Cyanne Westerman
Born in Whyalla, South Australia
Lives & works in Whyalla, South Australia
Born in 1991 with Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy, Cyanne is a self taught artist, who uses art to raise awareness and show that people living with disabilities are human too.
In 2015 Cyanne came third place in the ‘International Day of People with Disability’ art exhibition and was a contributing artist in the 2018 South Australian Living Arts (SALA) exhibition.
Regular contributor to the Whyalla Art Gallery, as well as other galleries that support the creativity of those living with disability, including the Bearded Dragon Gallery (Adelaide).
Cyanne is most renown for her Sunflower and Sunset artworks drawn for the Whyalla Suicide Prevention Network. Displayed on giant canvases in the Whyalla City Plaza in 2019, the artworks were also contributions for the ‘The World’s Biggest Comic Book’ opening.
In the future Cyanne plans to use her art as a way of opening up and starting a conversation around mental health.
